ROM:LC was a design project for an independent client developing a video game emulation package. As part of the packaging design, a logo was developed along with cover art to match the style requested. The scope of this project was to develop a limited run of prototype/demo packaging to house his created suite of emulation tools.
A series of logos was created based around our discussed guidelines. After a number of logo options were discussed and iterated on, two logos were selected to be included in the project. One for the packaging, and for the demo product itself.
With the logo selected, cover art was created in a matching style and approved by the client.
To capture the spirit of the emulation suite, the package was to be based on the classic Super Nintendo game box with the appropriately styled logos and artwork.
To create the prototype the final design was printed on a heavy cardstock, then hand cut and scored to replicate the final packaging. With the size of the demo product and the predefined nature of the packaging, a replica of the SNES internal cartridge packaging was able to be used to hold the product itself.
A limited run of 10 prototypes were created to be distributed by the client.
